Either on my PC or in the OneDrive phone app, delete the duplicates, etc. Deleting it from one place deletes it everywhere except for the phone local storage (which is why cleanup space is so important) This was always my favourite and almost unique feature of OneDrive. So I would 'cleanup space' the phone first to delete the local copies then tidy up my OneDrive, delete the duplicates etc That is what the clean up space button should and used to do. It's like the image on my phone is a ghost 👻 I tried something else that is more perplexing.in the gallery photos that won't delete or move I tried to rotate, draw on then, crop etc.

It's driving me nuts, there is so much rubbish. There are images I cannot keep on my phone or my OneDrive. I've gone through Google photos, Samsung Cloud, OneDrive I've searched my phone for the image name /extension details etc but any image I search for can't be found. But when I try to delete it says "failed to delete" Tap Move image says "download first" Tap Download "cannot download" I can see photos and screenshots etc I no longer want and In the top write corner of each image isthe OneDrive symbol is visible with a tick in it. I have tried to delete them from my phone but I can't. I then went into OneDrive and manually deleted photos naively expecting them to be deleted from my phone Gallery. I didn't delete unwanted photos in my Gallery before syncing. I too did the whole OneDrive swap over for my Samsung S8 photos.

So my questions are: (1) How do I make the OneDrive (Android) app automatically delete local photos after uploading them to OneDrive? (2) If I manually delete the local files on my phone (outside the OneDrive app), will the copies uploaded to the "Camera Roll" folder on OneDrive also be deleted? (3) If I delete a copy of a photo in the "Camera Roll" folder (either on my PC or through the web interface on ), will my local copy on the phone also be deleted? (4) Related to (2), (3), is the "Camera" folder on my Android phone truly synced with OneDrive (in other words, deleting a file in one device causes it to be deleted in other devices as well)? Or is it that the OneDrive app on my phone simply "uploads" the files to the "Camera Roll" folder and then THAT folder is synced among different devices (but not necessarily with my Android phone)? (The app simply says "There's nothing to clean up right now!") Am I doing this wrong?

The app doesn't give you the manual option to delete the local files either. However, even though I have turned on the "Clean up space on your device" option on the Android app, all my local copies of the photos remain intact on my phone (both in internal and external storage of the phone).

My photos stored in the phone (about 100GB) have been uploaded to the "camera roll" folder on OneDrive. (I have not disabled syncing with Google Photos just uet because I'm current transitioning between the two and want to tey them both out for a period of time.) Everything seems to be working fine.

I turned on photo upload on my Windows 10 machine and also truned on "camera upload" on my Android phone. Since I already have 1TB of space on OneDrive as part of my Office 365 plan, I decided to give it a try rather than pay extra money to Google for storage space. I'm trying to migrate from Google Photos to OneDrive in view of Google's boneheaded decision to discontinue free photo uploads (even for reduced quality photos) in June 2021.
